Associate
membership
is available to those
individuals who have passed at least one course
that leads to any of the above mentioned professional credentials. The
associate member has a period of 10 years to complete their educational
program and earn a designation or degree we recognize for regular membership
eligibility.
NOTE: FLMI (Fellow, Life Management
Institute), FSS (Financial Services Specialist), and/or LUTCF holders are
also eligible for Associate Membership.

Retired Membership
is available for members who consider
themselves retired and (a) attained 65 yrs. of age and a minimum of 15 yrs.
Membership; or (b) their attained age and yrs. of membership add up to 80 or
greater.
Full-time Professor Membership
Full-time professors at accredited colleges and universities are
eligible for this category. It is set at one-half Regular national dues.
Young Professional Membership
New members who are age 30 or younger meeting the requirements of regular
membership can apply for this category. The Young Professional dues rate is
for new members only and is available for the first two consecutive years of
membership only and a one time basis. After the two-year consecutive period
membership will be reclassified as a Regular Member.
Student
Membership
Full time students in a degree
program at an accredited college or university. National dues provide for
Web benefits only.
Disabled Membership
is available for a person who is
retired due to a total disability. Evidence must be submitted that he/she is
receiving total disability benefits from a private carrier or Social
Security. The requirement for a minimum of 15 years of membership is waived
for disabled applicants.
Life and Honorary
In order to be recognized as
a Life and Honorary member, the individual must satisfy one of the
requirements for retired membership. It is usually reserved for those who
have made significant contributions to the Society. A Chapter grants it to
an outstanding member on a special occasion. All Life and Honorary
membership applications must originate with the sponsoring Chapter board.
Once granted Life and Honorary status, dues are waived for the remainder of
the member's life.
Chapter procedure for Life and Honorary
membership:
- Complete a Life and Honorary Application
Form.
- Five (5) Chapter Officers and/or Directors
must sign the application.
- The completed application should be submitted
to headquarters by the Chapter with the current, one-time only fee of
$560. (5X's Retired member dues)
- Life and Honorary Membership is recognized by
a special certificate signed by the Chief Executive Officer of the Society
and by the Chapter President. Certificates will be forwarded to the
Chapter upon processing of the application for presentation to the Member
so honored.
Member Emeritus
A Regular member automatically qualifies for this category when they have
been a Society member for 50 years or longer. They are given a
lifetime membership and dues are waived.

Life Underwriter (CLU)
What is a CLU?
The Chartered Life Underwriter (CLU) designation is the undisputed professional credential
for persons involved in the protection, accumulation, preservation, and distribution of
the economic values of human life. Since the first examinations were held in 1928, more
than 85,000 men and women have met the educational, experience, and ethics mandates needed
to earn the CLU designation. The CLU program provides insights into the life insurance
business, its importance to the economy, its operation and distribution systems, and its
resurging importance for safe and secure investments. For agents, field managers, home
office personnel, and others involved in providing life insurance products to the public,
the CLU designation is the common bond for continuing growth and commitment to
professionalism.

Chartered
Financial Consultant (ChFC)
What is a ChFC?
The Chartered Financial Consultant (ChFC) designation focuses on the comprehensive
financial planning process as an organized way to collect and analyze information on a
client's total financial situation; to identify and establish specific financial goals;
and to formulate, implement, and monitor a comprehensive plan to achieve those goals. The
ChFC program provides financial planners and others in the financial services industry
with in-depth knowledge of the skills needed to perform comprehensive financial planning
for their clients. Since its inception in 1982, more than 32,000 men and women have met
the educational, experience, and ethics mandates needed to earn the ChFC designation.

Registered Health Underwriter (RHU)
What is an RHU?
The Registered Health Underwriter (RHU) designation demonstrates that the student has
successfully completed a rigorous three-course program, met experience requirements,
maintains ethical standards, and has agreed to comply with The American College's Code of
Ethics and Procedures and recertification/continuing education requirements. The focus of
this designation is to prepare professionals to advise clients on their health insurance
needs.

Registered Employee Benefit
Consultant (REBC)
What is an REBC?
The Registered Employee Benefits Consultant (REBC) designation demonstrates that the
student has successfully completed a comprehensive five-course program, met experience
requirements, maintains ethical standards, and has agreed to comply with The American
College's Code of Ethics and Procedures and recertification/continuing education
requirements.The number of electives in the program
provides an opportunity for individuals in the employee benefits field to specialize
within the broader employee benefits field. The designation is especially suitable for
professionals who are selling or servicing the group insurance, health insurance,
retirement planning, and incentive compensation markets.

Certified
Financial Planner (CFP)
The Certified Financial Planner (CFP)
Certification is one of the most highly regarded and recognized financial planning
certifications. The five-course curriculum includes risk management, tax planning,
employee benefits, investments, and estate planning. The American College's
Board-registered program prepares students to qualify to sit for the CFP
Certification Examination, which is granted by the CFP Board, Denver, CO.

Certified
Leadership Fellow (CLF)
The Chartered Leadership Fellow (CLF) is the first managerial
leadership designation created specifically for financial services professionals. Based on
the premise that managers need educational emphasis in leadership, interpersonal
relationships, and organization, the CLF curriculum developed by The American
College management faculty and LIMRA International, with the assistance of a practitioner
advisory committee provides contemporary thinking on the principles of leadership
and management. The CLF program blends classroom skills training and development with a
proven distance education self-study approach.
Anyone who has 3 years' experience in a leadership position in
the financial services industry is eligible to earn the CLF designation. In particular,
the CLF is appropriate for those in leadership roles in the operation of a
"field" organization.
